History

The Morley & Districts Business Association Inc has been in continual existence since it was formed in 1971, and underwent a change of name to the Central Eastern Business Association Inc in December 2006.

Life members Bob Meade of Bokay Group and Dave “Ossie” Oswald were there in the beginning. They helped establish a formal structure along with a constitution, and have remained stalwarts ever since.

Over the life of the Association, our key objectives of supporting members in matters that affect their business and importantly, promoting trading opportunities, have remained constant. This support network has proven to be a valuable resource to many, many local business people over three decades.

The contribution of numerous people who have served on Committee or in executive roles over the years has been outstanding and played a major role in the Association’s longevity.

Some names that come to the fore include: Bob Meade, Dave “Ossie” Oswald, Greg Weston, Graham Pittaway, Lou Magro, Cheryl Cundall, Nigel Green, Steven Brown, Karen Hackett, Paul Poli, Peter Gardner, and many more.

The interaction of members has and continues to be an integral part of our charter, and over the years, many friendships have been formed and a lot of fun had at the hundreds of member functions arranged during this time. With the development of friendship and trust, business soon follows.

This is a very brief history of the Association, however we will continue to source more information and anecdotes of our past.

If members can provide us with any details, please contact us - it will be appreciated.
